Marty’s Thoughts on Queensland and Geelong

Well The Eternal boys had their first little reminder of what we went through two years back… hotels… flights…. drinking… some fun, some not!! but we love it… hence why we put ourselves through it .

Thursday morning we all got up and headed to Melb Airport to head off to the Gold Coast for the first show of the weekend. When we got to the Tiger check  in, we were asked if we wouldn’t mind participating in a new reality TV show similair to the show in the UK that centres around Easy Jet…. being the loving giving rockstars that we are, we agreed to let them invade our check in and get some in depth info about The Eternal.

Heading up to the Gold Coast, we encountered some lovely turbulence.. and not being a great flyer through turbulence, I almost ripped up the arm rests… but we made it alive, and headed up to Surfer’s Paradise to check in and have a look around and see what a warm, humid Gold Coast had to offer.

After munching on some cheap surf club eats, we ran into the Meter Maids.. nice girls… mmmm… but back to things The Eternal!

After finding the venue and loading in, we watched the support bands and I thoroughly enjoyed Dead Letter Opener I must say, but good work all round!

After a rockin set, we headed out into the night to see what we could do… after finding not too much of interest open we settled for a kebab and a few beers back in the hotel!

Friday had us move  up to Brisvegas! After travelling up and finding our accomodation for the night, we all went our different ways around Brissy and met up near Rosies to load in and settle in for a night of some of Brissy’s best!!

Getting up in front an excited Brissy crowd, we rocked out a pretty good set and got a great QLD reception!!! Afterwards some of the guys stuck around for a few beers and a good chat!! And a thanks to Kirsty at the door… poor girl sat out there all night by herself!!

Getting back to the hostel, we found all the party people in bed… another kebab and a few beers and we retired for the night.

Up on Sat bright and early and off to the Gold Coast to fly to Melbourne.

After a few hold ups, we got on the plane and we’re told it could be a very turbulent flight… ahh.. my favorite!!!

Bumpy flight, cold weather… ahh yes, we were back in Melbourne. We got in the van and headed down the Princes Hwy to Geeeeeeeeelong.  As our flight was delayed because of weather, we missed out on seeing all of the first couple of bands (sorry guys!!!) but we did manage to catch Mushroom Giant who rocked our socks off!!

Playing to a very receptive, yet intimate crowd, we played a few fan favorite songs, and again, a couple of beers and a good chat to punters later, we were back in the van and off to Melbourne for a well earned rest, and our own beds!!!

All in all, great bands, great nights… an enjoyed mini-tour to get us into the mood for the epicness of what is to come!!!

Sydney… here we come!!!
